Ethiopia Coffee The Birthplace of Coffee
Ethiopia is where coffee began—and every cup tells a story that’s centuries old. Known as the birthplace of Arabica, Ethiopian coffee is celebrated for its bright acidity, floral aromas, and complex flavors that change beautifully from region to region. From the wild, fruity Harrar, to the smooth, balanced Sidamo, and the rich, winey Limu, each variety offers a unique journey into Ethiopia’s diverse landscapes and traditions.
At Buna Oromia Coffee, we bring these legendary beans directly from Ethiopian highlands to London, where they are freshly roasted in small batches to preserve their natural character. This is more than coffee—it’s a taste of culture, heritage, and craftsmanship passed down for generations.

Ethiopian Coffee Culture & Ceremony
In Ethiopia, coffee is more than a drink—it’s a way of life. Known locally as “Bunna”, coffee plays a central role in family, community, and hospitality. Sharing coffee is a sign of respect and friendship, often turning a simple cup into a meaningful social ritual.
At the heart of this tradition is the Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony, a centuries-old ritual that transforms coffee brewing into an art form. Fresh green beans are washed, roasted over open flame, and ground by hand before being brewed in a clay pot called a jebena. The coffee is poured gracefully into small cups and served in three rounds—Abol, Tona, and Baraka—each round carrying its own meaning of blessing, togetherness, and goodwill.
